i've been lifting weights now and i've heard of all sorts of stuff to take but what do you think is the best to build muscle?

go to GNC and look for a big bucket that say's 100% proteins and the bucket is like red and black I take it there's different kinds of tastes pick your favorite

If you want to gain weight and muscle, I'd suggest Mass XXX from GNC. That's what I take and the results have been great. But everyone is different.
