My son's only 14 months old now, but I was just curious... I think it's funny that he ALWAYS goes to the same spot (behind my elliptical) to poop. Whenever I can't find him, he's right there, squatting. Also, in the past two weeks he started grabbing his diaper whenever I ask him if he's stinky (sometimes he's not though). So, just curious as to when your little one started exhibiting some real signs that they were ready to give it a go...

My son started showing signs very early as well, but I waited until 18 months because I heard that was the youngest. And now my 16 month old has taken to mimicking his brother about the bathroom, and I thought I'd try to see if he was ready, but that just did not go well Lol!  It was messy. So, if you want to try, go for it, but I'd say wait until 18 months at least.  Even then, your son will still be ahead! =)

My 15 month old lets me know when she's wet already. She comes up to me and grabs her diaper. She also follows me into the bathroom when I go and I let her flush the toilet... so I'm planning on after the new year seriously get her trained before 2. Ambitious, yes, but it can be done!

I have a 2 year old son right now he is using the toilet. In the past month he has pooped twice in his pants. and he has had a pee pants each night. but only one. he holds it when we are out cause I dont use public restrooms. I take his seat with us in case he has to go... soon he will learn hehas to hold it the whole time. but right now he is 2 and i rather have him use his commode in the car then use his pants! When i started with him i was using pull ups... those dont work... they wet them cause they think they are a diaper... I use boy undies under them now... and he is doing 1000% better!!!it takes a ton and a half paitence. i would not expect him to be out of diapers till he is about 3. unless you are like me and he is in the rest room every 40 min to use. it works with paitence and persistance.

When they started to wake up with a dry diaper. I would take them to the washroom and sit them on the potty and I would pee with them. I never asked them do you have to pee. They were all around the age of 18months to 2 years except for one of my daughters. She took a little longer. Your son is still young but you could start my friends daughter was 18 months when she was totally toilet trained. Just don't push it to much. I would give them juice or water and wait for about 25 to 30 mins and take them to the potty and say the juice or water has turned in to pee. Let see you pee it out. When you ask it is giving a choice do you want to use the potty or your diaper. I had noise makers form the dollar store and when they did pee I would clap and make noise have a little celebration. The would feel go great and would get a noise maker and make noise to. Don't let them have the noise maker until he pees on the potty. Then when the party is done put the noise makers up. With my boys I would also but Cheerios in the toilet and make them pee on them they LOVED it then the party after was the icing on the cake.Good luck

There are several signs that you should look for when considering potty training since every child is different. You can view a list of these signs at www.onespoiledbaby.blogspot.com.
