Obesity-related health problems have killed more Americans this year than all wars the US ever took part in since the war of independence, why no war has been waged against the junk food industry and its gradual destruction of this country?

Because eating junk food is a personal choice.

People eat what they want...they know the consequences. This is yet another reason why health care should not be socialized.

That's BS. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm on my way to Chic-Fil-A.

People know it's bad. If they want to eat it and face the consequences, let them.

The junk food industry is not trying to kill people. It's the person's own fault if they chose to eat those terrible things! You are what you eat as they say. Fat people don't get attacked by the bag of Cheetos. They go to the store and buy them and eat them. They made the decision, so they have to suffer the consequences. Same goes with drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol.

Hang tight. When The Right Reverend Barack Obama is translated in January, government will control everything and take care of all of us. Not to worry.

Bad food exists in America -- in most restaurant and most processed foods off the grocery shelf -- because it is easy and cheap for companies to produce. The perfect example is trans fat and hydrogenated cooking oil almost universally used. The real pity to me is that convenience and profit for producers of this "food" is what's killing Americans.

as i am someone in the healthcare industry, i see this problem up close and it's a BIG problem (no pun intended). it costs healthcare big bucks because most of these morbidly obese people are also on disability. the funny thing is that loved ones and friends continue to bring in ho-hos and chips for these people, negating any help we are trying to give.
