As far as menstruation goes, are some traits genetic? My mother tells me how heavy her cycle is and mind and my sister's is. My mom's cycle is also super short, mind is too just not as short. Will it eventually get shorter. For the record, I am not new to this but I am not old to it either?

as far as i know, its not linked genetically. my mom started getting her cycle at age 15 - i got mine at 9. i get mine every 2 and a half months really heavy, and she gets hers once a month really light. i think it just has to do with you, not so much the rest of your family.

it usually varies from month to  month for some people but yeah stuff like that is genetic.  like my moms uterus was tilted when she was 17 and so was mine when i was 17

I honestly think it is. Because most of my friends have the same kind of menstrual cycles as their mothers and pregnancy symptoms as their mothers (morning sickness). I have the same kind of periods as my mom as well. I definitely hope its that way for pregnancy as well because my mom didn't have any morning sickness, so i'm praying for that, haha.

Yes, many traits related to menstruation are genetic. But it does not mean you will have the exact same traits as your mom did. You are just more inclined to the same traits as hers. Though, your cycle shouldn't change that much unless in the very first or last years of your menstruation or if you take some medication and especially the pill.

Yes, I think it is genetic. I know my mom and I both have the same cycles and flow frequencies. Lol. Tongue Hope that helps. And, if you're just getting your period, chances are it will even out eventually. When I just began, they usually lasted 12 days or something, but now only 5 days. ^_^

I've heard that it's hereditary so yours may be more like your mother's as you get older.

your body seems to get in synch if you're around another female a lot- hence, your mother. my friend and i always get ours around the same time.. same with my mom and i. it just happens like that. weird.but uhh if yours is already short, then what are you worried about?mine's usually 4 days.. but my friend can be a week or more.sooo i don't think you have anything to worry about.or.. just look forward to menopause! =D
