TopPrevention of Asthma:

If you are dust-sensitive, especially if you have allergies and/or asthma, you can reduce some of your misery by creating a "dust-free" bedroom. Dust may contain molds, fibers, and dander from dogs, cats, and other animals, as well as tiny dust mites. These mites, which live in bedding, upholstered furniture, and carpets, thrive in the summer and die in the winter. They will, however, continue to thrive in the winter if the house is warm and humid. The particles seen floating in a shaft of sunlight include dead mites and their waste products, The waste products actually provoke the allergic reaction

Asthma sucks. i grew up with exercise and allergy induced asthma and have spent my fair share of nights in hospitals, but there are lots of ways of fixing it! From my own experience, having a great pair of lungs is key. I haven't had to use any medication in about 10 years, which is a big deal. But it takes work. if i let myself get out of shape, i'll notice that I get wheezy walking up a flight of stairs; that's my signal that i need to start running again.
Cats still ruin my day, so i just avoid them (who likes cats anyway Wink
People who have exercise induced asthma sometimes just make the assumption that they should avoid exercise-- this is completely wrong!
Stay healthy, keep your lungs strong, and your quality of life will be just fine without using inhalers every time you walk down the street.

I have asthma and have been on Fluticasone, Advair, Flonase, Flovent, Beclovent, Serovent and Ventolin. I believe some of them have the same ingredients like I believe Fluticasone is one of the two ingredients in Adavair. Of all the medicines I have taken, none have made a bigger difference than Advair. I use the over-seas generic of Advair because of the price but ever since I started taking Advair about 5 years ago, I have rarely needed my rescue inhaler which is Ventolin or the generic Albuterol.
