Here are the three criteria for a schedule 1 controlled substance.1. The drug or other substance has high potential for abuse. On the contrary, there have been no reports of abuse or misuse of this substance, and in fact the human pineal gland releases it every night when we dream. In fact, a vast majority of reports show quite positive life changes have resulted from the use of DMT.2. The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.Once again, DMT has been show to alleviate depression, as well as curing heroin addiction after one use. Numerous studies show, as I said above, only positive effects on the study groups.3. There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision. This is a substance that is naturally occurring in all humans, most plants, and most animals. There is absolutely no physical risk from consuming this substance. Find me one record that says otherwise. If this drug is illegal, then we are all junkies, because we're all carrying it around inside of our heads. I suppose we should arrest you and your mother, your dog, your lawn, and the President too.The FDA bans substances that are in reality reminiscent of "cure-alls" so that pharmaceutical companies can continue to make a fortune pushing truly dangerous drugs that only treat the SYMPTOMS of the problem. And thus the consumer must come back for more. We are being raped and abused by our system, and I swear to all of you that more and more people are waking up to this. If you refuse to acknowledge that we're being taken advantage of for the profit of the elite billionaires, I suggest you do a little more research. No one wants to believe something like that, but you need to leave your comfort zone. We can create a beautiful world for ourselves in out children if we simply replace these evil people with our own educated, trusted representatives. Peace to you.

The fundamental reason DMT was turned into a schedule 1 drug in the 1960s is that it was used by hippies to get very high very quickly.  It gave similar results as LSD, but it worked much more quickly and did not last as long. That is, dimethyltryptamine was the drug of choice of people who were considered outsiders.  Alcohol and tobacco, the drugs of the insiders, are far more dangerous considering the total social cost.  Yet they are less regulated because they appeal to the "right" people.

Because not everyone can handle trips well, and DMT is a pretty freakin powerful hallucinogen.
