Title: Help. Severe acne problem.?
Post by: Howl on October 18, 2008, 07:37:40 PM
HI.I have this severe acne problem... red spots around my cheeks and forehead, white and black pimples ,dry skin in some parts .I don't eat much junk food, I drink water, wash my face constantly (3 times a day ) No chocolates xD.I've used a lot of treatments.I don't know what else to do ,or why is it like this. I've been with 3 dermatologists , used proactive, oxiclean ,  La roche posay treatments ,special soaps, a thing called asepcia?.. house treatments, even toothpaste, and a lot more. Everything seems to work for a while, and then it gets worse again ( and i keep doing the treatment). I'm 18 , and I've had this problem since i was like 9-10 years old (yeah , approximately  8 years of different treatments and nothing works for more than 2 months ,not joking )Everything is very expensive, specially the dermatologists , I don't know if look for someone else again.I've also had anti-stress pills xD one doctor said it might be that...Didn't work either.I'm not really like traumatized  about it, I'm kinda used now. My friends don't seem to be bothered either or at least they won't laugh or anything xP. But it kind of worries me what might be causing this or if it will be like this forever, or any other remedy I haven't tried xP .Someone ,any help xD? ..similar stuff..medicine ..doctors xD....ideas of why is it like this... Well anyway I appreciate your help n.n , and please I don't want joke answers xD

well for starters i wouldn't wash your face more than twice a day. over washing can lead to dry skin. sometimes it will actually go the other way around, making your skin oilier because it feels it needs to replenish itself with the oils washing takes away.you could also try going on yaz (birth control) which helps with outbreaks caused by hormones. remember that you don't truly know how a product will work on your skin until about a month after you start using it. so don't give up on them so fast! they just might help your skin.

Hi Pumpkin. There is no easy way to say this. It's in your system.A fairly new friend of mine has many scars on his face from acne.He said it just started one day and he could do nothing to stop it, having the same treatments as you.He told me how embarrassed he was during his younger years but now only has an occasional small zit - no more volcanoes. My son got his hair buzzed several years ago and broke out all over his head within an hour.  The clippers had not been cleaned and the teen before had terrible acne. We tried medication, etc.  Nothing helped.  It seems once whatever it is - and it seems almost like a staph infection, gets in your system you're stuck with it. I can only pass on what I know, not being able to tell a cure but able to empathize with you.

hiyai no how you feel i've had acne since i was 10 and now im 15, and it finally starting to go ( fingers crossed ) if you go to your doctors and they agree that its bad enough, then you should be sent to a dermatologist for free.  this what happened to me, im now taking roacctune, but you have to take the pill, because it will deforme and kill the baby if your pregnant. there are quite a few side-effects, but its the best acne pill to take. If the side effects worry you then try swimming it dry's up my skin and tanningg beds help loads too for me personaly. and as your 18, and if your at you wits-end  you could consider  having laser treatment?Good luck with your acnei no its SO SO SO horrible to life withx

You might try a detox. Washing your face to much will dry it out, causing your body to over produce oils... making acne worse. Try this..Acne is a bacteria that needs to be killed. Witch Hazel is also works great.. it is a little smelly, but you can use a cotton ball or wash cloth. It will tke away the oiliness. `Tea Tree Oil will kill out the bacteria or weaken it enough not to bother you. Apply it to the effected areas with a q-tip or cotton ball after you have washed. You should get a good multivitamin(highly suggest) with vitamin a,c,e,d and zinc.. this should help tons! Eating carrots also helps.. there is beta-carotene (Vitamin A) in them which helps prevent acne and repair the skin. Take zinc, zinc is a antibacterial agent. Make sure to dink plenty of water and get good rest at night.Azelaic Acid is a great natural acid that reduces the growth of bacteria, restores the skins cells and reduces inflammation. Try using a topical with Azelaic Acid in it.. it is safe. Also, change/wash your pillow case and sheets every other day. There are ways to put moisture back into your skin and heal it, such as: drinking lots of water, making sure you are eating enough fat/omega-3 oils. Lotions with mineral oil can dry out the skin, use one with out it! Emu Oil ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emu_oil ) contains vitamin A and E, Sapogens ( makes skin softer), and Oleic acid (a skin cell regenerator, anti-wrinkel agent) - walgreens sells emu oil.. i would think walmart would as well.

Here's the dealeo on acne. Trust me, I've had it REALLY BAD a few years back. Just listen to me.First of all, the first mistake a lot of people make is STRESS. While yes, I understand, I was there. Acne may cause you to freak out sometimes. It's normal, but you HAVE TO GET OUT THERE. You'll get used to it, and so will other people, they'll know that that's how you are. And you'll get comfortable with your skin, which will reduce it. If you really cannot face people, buy some sort of foundation that can help blend your skin tone and make it look a little more even. But remember, NO STRESS. It's scientifically proven that stress causes acne.Second, as what concerns products/topicals. I've tried them all! In this order: Oxy, Neutrogena, Proactiv, Clean and Clear and finally Neutrogena again. I haven't had much success with topicals at all, but you have to remember, the GOLDEN RULE.No matter what product you're using, you MUST USE IT RELIGIOUSLY. As in like, 2 times a day EVERY DAY. or maybe even 3 times a day if needed.(Also, if you're willing to spend a lot of money, you can get chemical peels or other procedures, but I would only recommend this as last resort)Finally, last but definately not least. The thing that HELPED ME THE MOST...Water. LOTS, AND TONS OF WATER!All I drank is water, and very rarely some sort of healthy juice. Water is what really saved me, even when you're not thirsty, shove a glass of water down your throat.Remember, you're not alone. Good luck.
