My 4mth old son was just recently switch from Axid to Prevacid for Acid Reflux. The prevacid doesn't seem to be helping much. He is constantly fussy. HE wasn't like that on the Axid, but before any medication he was. Anyone else prefer one medication over the other??

What is your son's doctor doing to find and fix the CAUSE of his reflux?  These  drugs disrupt proper digestion - that will lead to serious problems in the long run.  Plus, something is wrong - something is CAUSING the reflux.  For example, has the doctor tested your son for Celiac Disease (CD)?  CD is a common disorder and a common cause of reflux in children.  It must be ruled-out by proper testing.Best wishes and good luck.

My son is now 3, and has been on both Meds. He started on Axid at about 20 days old. He used to be sitting around, doing what babies do, then suddenly gasp, turn purplely blue, and then vomit about 20-25 seconds later. He stayed on the Axid until he was about 19 months. When I noticed, he was still having the problem, just swallowing it again. He got so used to it, it was daily life to him. I found out at his first dentists appointment that it did a number on his teeth.I told the pedi who recommended trying Previcid, saying it was "a little more settling in the stomach" I haven't noticed any side effect, or repeat spitting up.If you notice yours is more comfortable on the Axid, I'm sure they'll switch back for you. I think they are pretty closely related.

It's common for babies to have some kind of reflux. When that interferes with growth, feedings and sometimes breathing other measures should be taken.Prevacid is a good medication to control the reflux. The reflux will improve with time.Celiac diseas, rare in  babies. There are other measures that you can try at home. Elevate the head of the baby using some books or a phone book under the mattress of the bed. The head can be in an angle of 30 degrees. That will help to keep the food down, because of gravity,At 4 months old you can also add a little of rice cereal in the formula. ( Or breast milk, in a bottle of course) just to thicken the milk. That also help to keep the food down in the stomach.Burp well the baby after each feed.Good luck
